RIMG Plus — Image Organization, Validation, and Optimization in a Single Workflow

RIMG Plus was born from a very specific need in my daily workflow: renaming large volumes of images quickly and consistently, without relying on an error-prone manual process.

This continues to be one of the main problems the product solves.

However, as I began using it in real-world situations, it became clear that the friction did not end with file naming.

After renaming the files, I still needed to check dimensions, handle exceptions, organize assets, reduce file sizes, and prepare everything for publication.

Through this practical use, RIMG Plus began evolving from a tool focused on renaming into a more complete workflow for image preparation and processing.

The problem

Working with a large number of images often involves a sequence of small tasks:

• Organize the files;

• Apply a naming convention;

• Check dimensions;

• Identify files that do not meet the required standards;

• Handle exceptions;

• Optimize file sizes;

• Prepare everything for publication.

None of these tasks is particularly complex.

The problem lies in their repetition.

When the volume increases or a project requires specific naming and dimension rules, small errors begin to generate rework, incorrect uploads, and time spent on operations that could be automated.

RIMG Plus brings this entire process together in a single workflow.

Batch renaming without losing individual control

Renaming remains at the core of the experience.

Multiple files can be processed simultaneously, with naming conventions applied consistently across the entire batch.

At the same time, not every file needs to follow exactly the same rule.

For that reason, the workflow also makes it possible to edit an image’s name individually before export, without removing it from the batch or repeating the entire operation.

It is a small change in the interaction, but an important one when the goal shifts from simply automating tasks to handling exceptions effectively.

Automatic dimension detection and validation

RIMG Plus identifies the image dimensions as soon as the files enter the workflow.

This makes it possible to quickly see which assets meet the expected standards and which ones require attention.

Validation is especially useful in projects with strict dimension requirements, including scenarios with specific patterns used on platforms such as Liferay 6 and 7.

Instead of discovering a problem after uploading a file, the inconsistency becomes visible before export.

Compression without changing image dimensions

Another stage that has become part of the workflow is compression.

The goal is to reduce file sizes in KB while preserving the original image dimensions.

This makes it possible to prepare lighter images for interfaces and publication without turning optimization into a separate tool or additional step.

Renaming, validation, and compression now take place within the same context.

Two modes for different needs

Not everyone organizes images in the same way.

That is why RIMG Plus offers two user profiles.

Creative Profile

Designed for designers, marketing professionals, and workflows in which the characteristics of an image help define its file name.

The process prioritizes speed: add the files, identify their information, and generate standardized names without requiring unnecessary technical configuration.

Standard Profile

Designed for developers, technical teams, and projects that use specific file-naming structures.

It supports prefixes, campaign codes, and other patterns required to keep assets consistently organized.

The idea is not to create two separate tools.

It is to allow the same workflow to adapt to different work contexts.

Local processing and privacy

All processing takes place locally on the device.

Images do not need to be sent to an external server for analysis or processing.

In addition to making the workflow more direct, this decision reduces the exposure of files that often belong to internal projects, unpublished campaigns, or corporate environments.

An experience designed for different contexts

RIMG Plus can be used directly on the web and provides a responsive experience, adapting the workflow to different screen sizes.

It can also be installed as a PWA, providing a more app-like experience without sacrificing the convenience of web distribution.

As the product evolved, much of the work also shifted toward details that are less visible in a feature list:

Information hierarchy, interface states, feedback during actions, microinteractions, responsiveness, and visual consistency.

As the tool began doing more, it also became increasingly important to clearly communicate what is happening at each stage.

From a practical need to an evolving product

RIMG Plus began as a solution to a repetitive task in my own workflow.

The initial goal was simple: rename images faster and with fewer errors.

Real-world use revealed that there was a broader problem surrounding that task.

Today, the product brings together:

• Batch image renaming;

• Individual file-name editing;

• Dimension detection and validation;

• Organization and processing of multiple files;

• Compression that preserves the original dimensions;

• File preparation and export;

• Local processing;

• A responsive web experience;

• PWA support.

However, the most important evolution is not limited to this list.

It lies in the criteria used to build the product.

At first, the main question was whether the tool could perform the task.

Over time, other questions began to matter:

Is the workflow clear?

Are exceptions easy to resolve?

Does the user understand what happened?

Is there enough information before export?

Does the interface reduce work or create new friction?

This ongoing process of use, review, and refinement continues to guide the evolution of RIMG Plus.

Making the software work solved the initial problem.

What came next began to define the product.
